Key Stage One Curriculum

As the children continue into Key Stage One they build upon their Foundation Stage learning. The National Curriculum provides the backbone of our in-school curriculum; we add to this to meet the needs of our children.

Our Key Stage One curriculum covers the areas below, though these are rarely taught in isolation as there are many connections between the children’s learning. As in the Foundation Stage, we strive to offer a broad range of contexts for this learning. Within the school setting we use the indoor and outdoor spaces for teaching and learning. Where possible we also learn through visitors coming in to school and through visits.

Our aim is a broad and balanced curriculum, emphasising the very important English and mathematical skills, combined with all the other elements, to provide everything needed for a well-rounded education.

For details on the specifics of our curriculum, please refer to individual Curriculum pages.

We share an overview of half-termly knowledge and vocabulary planning with parents and carers in class newsletters which can be found on Seesaw.
